Bali's hotel scene keeps on rolling, and the 2026 crop of openings leans hard into wellness, privacy and design. From cliffside Uluwatu suites to reclaimed-bamboo retreats in the Ubud hills, here are the stays worth knowing about before you book.
Ubud is doing the heavy lifting. The big one to watch is Kimpton Suntaya Bali Ubud, expected to open in late 2026 on Jalan Bisma, a short walk from Ubud Palace. It has 101 rooms, plenty of social and wellness space, and a Japanese restaurant opening with Michelin-starred Chef Imamura — unusual territory for Ubud dining. Already open and showing off: Equipoise Resort, an adults-only hideaway in Kenderan built from reclaimed wood and bamboo, with a spa that creates custom oil blends based on Balinese Wariga wisdom, plus Starlight Cinema nights under the stars (from IDR 3,700,000++). If you're travelling as a group, The Mandapa River Estate is a three-bedroom villa beside a 500-year-old temple with a climate-controlled infinity pool over the Ayung River — but it starts at IDR 16,000,000++ a night, fitting for Bali's only three-MICHELIN-Key property. Anantara Ubud in Payangan offers treetop plunge pools, dry-aged seafood at Amerta and a free shuttle into town, while Akohara Buahan Village Retreat delivers thatched-roof villas with private pools about 30 minutes from central Ubud.
Down south, Uluwatu is getting crowded with good options. Sejati Uluwatu, from the team behind Melali, is a 10-room adults-only boutique in Bingin with earthy stone-and-wood interiors and an infinity pool facing a banana plantation. Wellness-focused travellers should look at Mira Hotel & Recovery, also in Bingin, which pairs minimalist lofts with a proper contrast-therapy circuit: dry sauna, cold plunges at different temperatures and a Jacuzzi (rooms from IDR 2,400,000++ — go in the morning to avoid the afternoon crowd). For the full splurge, Uluwatu Estate by Mandarin Oriental is a pavilion-style private estate with a dedicated chef, chauffeur and concierge, bookable as four bedrooms for eight guests or as an event venue for up to 70 people, from IDR 55,600,000++.
Two more are on the way. KLEO Seminyak is the first JdV by Hyatt in Southeast Asia, with 60 mid-century modern rooms and a rooftop pool bar minutes from the beach. And in March 2027, KARV, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa will land on the cliffs above Jimbaran Bay with 64 all-ocean-view rooms, a spa carved into the cliff with a cave pool, and butler service throughout — just 8km from the airport.
Who's this for? Wellness seekers have the richest pickings, with Ubud and Bingin both doubling down on spa-led stays and recovery circuits. Groups and families get serious value from villa estates like Mandapa and Uluwatu Estate, where splitting a multi-bedroom property can feel more private — and often better value — than booking a stack of hotel rooms. And if you like the sound of Kimpton or KARV, it's worth pencilling them into a late-2026 or 2027 trip now, since early-bird rates on flagship openings tend to disappear fast.
