You can switch communities once per calendar year, and your chosen community badge appears under your account number. Two of the six are location-locked: Club 49 is for Alaska residents and Huaka'i is for Hawaii residents, continuing the resident-discount traditions of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines respectively.

For everyone else, two communities stand out. Global Locals gives you a 10% bonus on status points earned from international travel, plus one bonus status point for every 25 points transferred in from an eligible partner loyalty currency. That second perk could quietly add up: 100,000 transferred points would net you 4,000 extra status points towards elite status. The list of eligible transfer partners hasn't been published yet, but if common transferable currencies qualify, this becomes an easy win for anyone who already moves points around.

The other standout is Families on the Go, which knocks 20% off Atmos Rewards award tickets for kids aged 12 and under. Paired with what's arguably the industry's most generous lap-infant policy, this makes the program one of the stronger choices for parents booking award travel. Nothing here is life-changing on its own, but for a free, opt-in add-on, the value is real — particularly the status-points-on-transfers mechanic, which is unusual among airline programs.

Why it matters: if you hold Alaska or Hawaiian miles, or credit flights to Atmos Rewards, the choice you make in October 2026 is basically free money. Frequent international flyers or point-savvy transferrers should look hard at Global Locals; families booking award seats for kids should pick Families on the Go.
