Six Senses has unveiled a new women-only wellness programme, The Yin Way Retreat — The Way of a Woman, running at two of its properties in late 2025: Six Senses Kanuhura in the Maldives from October 1 to 4, and Six Senses Kyoto in Japan from December 11 to 14.

The retreats are led by Hati S. Malinova, the brand's Wellness director and an integrative health expert. The concept leans on Yin principles — rest, receptivity, reflection and cyclical living — with practices rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Rather than narrowing women's health to fertility and menopause, the programme is pitched at women in any life stage, from pre-pregnancy through post-menopause, tackling issues like poor sleep, brain fog, fatigue and perimenopause. Malinova's stated goal is that guests leave with practical tools they can keep using at home.

Groups are deliberately small so participants share meals, workshops and conversations. The setting shapes each edition. In the Maldives, days include yin yoga and sound healing, guests stay in beach villas with private pools, and the schedule adds personalised spa sessions, hormonal health workshops, a dolphin cruise and visits to the resort's Alchemy Bar for bespoke herbal and botanical blends aimed at hormonal wellbeing.

The Kyoto edition swaps sand for craft and ritual. Guests join expert-led health seminars, hydrotherapy sessions and shared evening meals built around Japan's traditional 24 micro-seasons, the 24 sekki. There's hands-on culture too: kintsugi, the art of repairing broken ceramics with urushi lacquer and gold powder, plus ikebana flower arranging, qigong, Daoist meditation and herbal teas. Free time is built in for exploring Kyoto's temples and gardens on your own.

For travellers, this is a rare chance to pair a serious, clinically informed women's health programme with a genuinely high-end holiday — a beach-villa Maldives escape in October or a contemplative Kyoto stay in early December, when the city is quiet and edged with autumn colour. It suits solo travellers or friends who want structure and community rather than a generic spa break. Spaces will be limited given the small-group format, so early booking matters.
