Soho House is heading out of the city. The private members' club has confirmed its 15th location will open in Windsor in 2027, roughly 45 minutes from central London, and it's the group's first venue built around sport on the water.
Soho River House will sit on the banks of the Thames with a line-up that should be familiar to anyone who knows the brand: bedrooms for overnight stays, several food and drink options, and a 25-metre outdoor-style pool. The design nods to a classic English country club — renderings show a grand dining room with chandeliers and ornate cornicing — alongside more modern touches like a vinyl bar and a riverside restaurant.
Wellness gets the full treatment too. An outpost of the Soho Health Club will include a gym, wellness facilities, Japanese-style onsens and cold plunges. The pitch here seems to be a proper escape-and-reset option within an hour of town.
The headline addition, though, is the Soho House Racquet and Rowing Club — a first for the brand. Members get tennis, padel and pickleball courts, plus a full set of boating facilities: dry boat storage, a staging area for getting vessels ready, and direct river access via a launching ramp. Given Windsor's rowing heritage, it's an obvious fit.
If you want in, applications open ahead of the 2027 launch, and you can already register interest on the Soho House website. Membership isn't automatic: you apply online and face a committee approval process. Fees run up to £4,500 a year for the top tier, which buys access to all 48 houses across 19 countries, discounted rates on Soho House bedrooms, Health Club perks and invitations to events.
Windsor itself makes the proposition easier to sell. The town has the castle, Windsor Great Park, a riverside promenade and, a short walk away, Eton — so even members who never pick up a padel racket will have plenty to do. For Londoners without a car, the train from Waterloo or Paddington takes well under an hour.
Why it matters: this is part of a broader move by members' clubs into lifestyle territory — combining stay, spa, food and sport in one membership, outside city centres. If you're already in the Soho House ecosystem, this becomes another place to use it; if you're not, the 2027 launch is a good excuse to weigh up whether the £4,500-a-year top tier is worth it for access to a riverside country club setup you could realistically visit weekly. Keen padel and pickleball players, in particular, may find it one of the more appealing ways to justify a membership.
