Vancouver's biggest festive event is levelling up. The Vancouver Christmas Market returns to Jack Poole Plaza on the downtown waterfront from November 16 to December 24, 2026, and organisers are calling it the most significant expansion in the market's sixteen-season history. The plaza will be dressed up as a German-style holiday village, with more than 90 wooden huts selling food, drinks, crafts and gifts from local artisans and makers.
Five new experiences arrive this year. The entrance gets fresh German Village facades to set the scene before you're even through the gate. A Wishing Forest invites visitors to scribble a wish on a wooden ornament and hang it among the trees for others to find. Most intriguing is the Secret Wall Cocktail Hut: ring a bell in the Pyramid area and either Santa or the Grinch will slide your drink through a hidden window. Once you've got your collectible mug in hand, the new Fire Pit Lounge is the spot to warm up.
The classics are all still there. A walk-through Christmas tree, twinkling light displays, a carousel and a photo booth cover the traditional side of things, while the Flying Stage — perched on the second storey of the market's iconic Christmas Pyramid — hosts live entertainment throughout the season. Founder Malte Kluetz, who grew up with Christmas markets in Germany, says the point is that every year adds a new corner to discover and a new reason to come back.
Food and drink are a big part of the draw, as you'd expect from a market modelled on the German originals: think mulled wine, hearty savoury snacks and plenty of sweet treats to keep you going as you wander.
Practically speaking, season passes are already on sale, and general admission pre-sale opens October 2. The market runs daily with various time slots, and tickets need to be bought online in advance. It sits right at 1055 Canada Place, steps from the convention centre and the seawall, so it's easy to pair with a stroll along the waterfront or a ride on the nearby FlyOver Canada attraction.
