Bilt members have until the end of 2026 to enjoy one of the best deals in points transfers. From January 1, 2027, Bilt Rewards points will convert into World of Hyatt points at a 4:3 ratio instead of the current 1:1 — so every 1,000 Bilt points will get you 750 Hyatt points. The new ratio applies to everyone, regardless of Bilt elite status or which Bilt card you hold.

Why it stings: transfers to World of Hyatt have long been considered among the most valuable things you could do with Bilt points, given how far Hyatt points stretch at luxury properties. The only exception to the gloom is Bilt's periodic Rent Day transfer bonuses, which can still sweeten the math during 2026.

The writing has been on the wall for a while. Hyatt is in full monetisation mode: it has raised the cost of top-tier award redemptions by as much as 67%, and Chase Ultimate Rewards recently took the same 4:3 haircut on Hyatt transfers for some of its cards. Since Chase is Hyatt's co-branded credit card partner, it's a logical next step — Chase has little incentive to make a rival card like Bilt look more attractive than its own Hyatt products, especially with new Hyatt cards rumoured.

Bilt hasn't explained the change, and it's unclear whether Hyatt demanded more money per point or whether a Chase contractual clause forced the move. Either way, the strategy seems clear: push people toward Hyatt's own credit cards rather than letting them transfer in from elsewhere.

What should you do with this? If you hold a Bilt balance and have a Hyatt redemption in mind — a Park Hyatt city stay, an Alila resort, a Category 1 hotel for cheap nights — consider transferring during 2026 while the 1:1 rate lasts. Points in your World of Hyatt account aren't affected by the transfer ratio change, though Hyatt's ongoing award chart inflation is a separate risk. If your points are still sitting in Bilt, waiting past 2026 means effectively losing a quarter of their Hyatt value.

For everyday travellers, this is another reminder that transferable points are a moving target. Partnerships that look unbeatable today can be repriced overnight, and Hyatt is setting the tone for the wider loyalty industry right now.
