Want to watch Formula 1's most famous race without fighting for a hotel room? Explora Journeys is mooring Explora I right in Port Hercule for the 2027 Grand Prix de Monaco, and suite reservations are now open — including packages with three-day grandstand access.
The ship will be docked from June 2 to 7, 2027, roughly 150 yards from the street circuit. That means you can walk to the track, watch the racing, then head back for a swim, a spa session or dinner without ever changing hotels. Explora says it will be the only ship of its kind berthed in the port over race weekend — its third consecutive Monaco program after 2025 and 2026.
Three ways to book. The suite-only package gets you the ship and everything on it: oceanfront suites with private terraces, six restaurants, 12 bars and lounges, premium drinks and wellness facilities. The Grandstand package adds three-day access to designated viewing areas at the circuit. A third tier with F1 Paddock Club hospitality — gourmet dining, pit-lane walks and appearances by racing legends — opens for reservations soon. Past editions have drawn the likes of Sir Jackie Stewart, Mika Häkkinen and David Coulthard, plus the official 2026 Grand Prix opening party and a Vanity Fair Club event.
You can treat the race as a standalone trip or fold it into a longer Med sailing. There's a Rome-to-Monaco journey from May 24 to June 7, a Monaco-to-Barcelona sailing from June 2 to 14, or both combined into a Rome-to-Barcelona run from May 24 to June 14.
Monaco itself punches well above its size between sessions. The old town on Le Rocher, the Prince's Palace and the Oceanographic Museum are all close by, and if you fancy stretching your legs further, Èze, Menton, Nice and Cannes sit along the same coast. Explora is promising extra F1-themed onboard programming for 2027, though details haven't been announced yet.
Why it matters: race-weekend accommodation in Monaco is famously scarce and expensive, so a floating suite 150 yards from the track solves the two biggest headaches — beds and transport — in one booking. It suits F1 fans who want hospitality-grade comfort, cruise travellers who fancy a marquee event mid-itinerary, and anyone combining the Grand Prix with a wider French Riviera or Mediterranean holiday. If the Paddock Club tier appeals, it's worth registering interest early given how these packages historically sell.
