Pumpkins on white sand, trick-or-treating under palm trees and a horror-movie walkthrough you have to survive before the after-party — that's what October looks like across Sun Siyam's Maldives portfolio this year, with all five resorts in the collection running their own take on Halloween.

The flagship production is at Siyam World, where Halloween has grown into a genuinely ambitious event rather than a themed buffet. This year's show, CULT CLASSICS, is an interactive horror walkthrough inspired by cult films, with live performers, cinematic sets and immersive storytelling that pulls guests into the action. Anyone who makes it through then rolls straight into an after-party headlined by DJ and producer SARRA, whose sets mix Afro House, Afro Tech House, Indie Dance and Latin House. According to Sara Siyam, the group's marketing director, guests now genuinely plan their holidays around Halloween week.

Sun Siyam Olhuveli takes a different cult classic for its theme, transforming the island into the weird black-and-white world of Beetlejuice — glowing green lighting, theatrical installations, roaming characters, themed cocktails and live performances from morning to night, with international DJ Giada Brincé providing the soundtrack.

The other three islands lean into their own styles. Sun Siyam Iru Fushi goes for atmosphere and tradition: a beachfront barbecue at Islander's Grill with fresh seafood and Mediterranean and Asian flavours, followed by a Bodu Beru drumming performance and a DJ party at Water's Edge. Sun Siyam Iru Veli keeps things relaxed — kids' crafts at Turtle Kidz Club, a pool party at Chemistry Bar, then a barefoot Lobster BBQ on the beach with live music. Sun Siyam Vilu Reef is the family pick, with its Ocean Haunt celebration featuring a Little Monsters Parade, face painting, cookie decorating and a themed beachfront BBQ after dark.

If you're tempted to swap autumn greys for the Indian Ocean, the timing is decent: Sun Siyam is running seasonal offers across the collection, including savings on accommodation, complimentary transfers, resort credits and signature experiences, with many bookable until 31 October 2026 via sunsiyam.com/offers.

For anyone who finds Halloween in a foggy town centre a bit predictable, this is the alternative — warm sand instead of cobwebs, and scares that come with a cocktail in hand. Horror fans get the theatrical Siyam World production, couples get the Beetlejuice whimsy at Olhuveli, and families have two genuinely kid-focused options in Iru Veli and Vilu Reef. October also sits at the tail of the Maldives' wet season, so expect some rain with your frights, but also lower rates and quieter islands than the peak December-to-April months.
