A lucky traveller wandering into the SilverKris Business Class Lounge at Singapore Changi's Terminal 2 got more than a pre-flight seat: he appears to have scored the first public look at the newly completed, much-expanded lounge, spotted while staff were still installing the beer tap and airline staff snapped promotional photos. Singapore Airlines hasn't formally announced the opening, but the space is clearly up and running for eligible passengers.
The debut caps a phased rebuild under a S$45 million project announced in April 2025, covering all three of the airline's Terminal 2 lounges — First Class, Business Class, and KrisFlyer Gold. Once everything is finished, the trio will offer roughly 50% more space and seating than before, with design cues lifted from the airline's flagship Terminal 3 lounges.
The sequence so far: the new First Class SilverKris Lounge opened in November 2025 across the terminal's central atrium, freeing up its old space for the first slice of the renovated Business Class lounge, which quietly opened in April 2026. That section brought in warm wood panelling, tan-and-blue seating, productivity pods, better showers, a live cooking station, and — a rarity in the old lounge — some natural light. The larger original Business lounge then closed for its own overhaul, and it has now reopened and linked up with the April section, forming the complete facility.
The finished Business Class SilverKris Lounge is about 30% bigger than before and can seat around 320 passengers. Promised features include a quiet rest area with reclining chairs, a redesigned living-room space with wingback chairs and sofas, an expanded buffet of Asian and Western dishes, live cooking stations, and a full-service bar running barista coffee in the morning and signature cocktails in the evening.
This matters because the old Terminal 2 Business lounge had become the weak link in Singapore Airlines' home lineup — dark, dated, and cramped at peak departure times, especially next to the acclaimed Terminal 3 lounges. Frequent flyers transiting through T2 to Europe, Australia, or the Americas now get a far better pre-flight experience without needing to trek terminals.
There's still a bit to come. The KrisFlyer Gold Lounge is being expanded to double its previous capacity, with armchairs, workstations, dining seating, and — a genuine upgrade — its own restrooms and shower suites for the first time. The whole project should wrap around mid-2027.
If you're flying Singapore Airlines business class or entering on Star Alliance gold status through Terminal 2, you can realistically expect the new space on your next trip. Just don't be surprised if a corner is still being polished — literally.
