Dubai's social calendar is hitting its stride again as the weather cools, and the weekend of October 9 to 11 packs in a bit of everything: a techno legend, beach club reopenings, after-dark water slides and enough food events to plan your entire day around eating.
The headline act is Carl Cox, who opens the new season of Pacha ICONS at Playa Pacha, FIVE LUXE JBR, on Friday night. The sets run from 7pm to 3am, with dancefloor tickets from Dhs200, VIP from Dhs450 and backstage passes at Dhs1,000. If your weekend leans more adrenaline than bass drops, Aquaventure World at Atlantis The Palm is opening after hours the same evening, from 8pm to midnight. Over 100 slides and rides stay open, with lasers, live performances and three entertainment zones thrown in. Entry is Dhs310 on the gate, dropping to Dhs149 for annual and season pass holders.
Beach season is officially back too. Summersalt at Jumeirah Al Naseem has reopened with its front-row Burj Al Arab views, poolside lounging and a Latin American menu. Weekday access costs Dhs550 (Dhs950 on public holidays), though Dhs200 of that comes back as food and drink credit. Prefer your sand with a side of good deeds? Sole Mio runs a Sunday morning yoga hour at Kite Beach from 8.30am, and the Dhs60 fee for non-customers funds beach clean-ups that pull microplastics out of the sand.
On the food front, Josette at ICD Brookfield Place in DIFC is running a Chocolate Rendezvous for two, Dhs190, piled with chocolate crêpes, tartine, strawberries, Chantilly cream and its signature hot chocolate, served daily from 8am to 11.30am and again from 3pm to 6pm Sunday to Friday. Matcha fans can book a hands-on whisking workshop at Huqqabaz Garden every second Saturday, and until October 11, Clinique at Mirdif City Centre is handing out free Greek froyo and mini skincare products from 12pm to 7pm while stocks last.
There's plenty beyond eating and dancing. Kapitol, a new games venue at Rixos Premium on The Walk in JBR, crams mini golf, bowling, batting cages, racing simulators, shuffleboard and karaoke into one spot daily from 4pm to 1am. Sunday brings Paint & Swap at riina in Meadows Village (4pm to 6pm, Dhs290 including materials, canapés and a drink), where you paint a canvas for ten minutes then pass it on, ending up with a group-made artwork. Wellness types have a new address at One Za'abeel with Amalora Polyclinic, plus a ROOTED collection launch and studio takeover at Real Pilates JLT running October 10 to 18.
For anyone in Dubai this weekend, it's a handy snapshot of how much the city crams into three days once October arrives. Visitors should note most events need a booking or DM, and Dhs250-500 per person covers a solid night out.
