Adora Cruises is adding family-themed cabins to its new ship, Adora Flora City, which is due for delivery on 6 November. Bookings are open now, and the cabins are clearly aimed at parents who want more than just a bigger room.
The idea goes beyond decor, though there's plenty of that: customised door signs and themed exterior touches make the cabins feel like their own little zone on the ship. Kids staying in them get perks too, including a chance to visit the bridge and meet senior officers to learn how the ship actually sails. On boarding day, the line's mascot figure, Captain Adora — officially titled "Chief Happiness Navigator" — greets young guests in full uniform and leads a nautical-themed adventure.
The package continues throughout the sailing. Families in these cabins get exclusive entertainment programmes, a behind-the-scenes ship tour, and access to specialty restaurants and the Adora Sea Market. When the cruise ends, children leave with a Captain Adora plush toy, a card holder and a toiletry set — the kind of souvenirs that will keep the trip alive in a small child's memory for months.
Fittingly for a ship named Flora City, there's a botanical thread running through the kids' programme. Children can learn about flowers from around the world during the voyage, and families can join a workshop on the cultural tradition of the twelve monthly flowers, making their own flower-themed calendars to take home.
There's a full children's club onboard as well. The stand-out is the Lion Cub Camp, which packs in an African drum rhythm workshop, lion hand puppets, face painting, lion-head crafts and — naturally — a lion cub parade.
Why it matters: Adora Cruises is a relatively young Chinese cruise brand, and Adora Flora City is its second ship. If you're cruising with young children, especially on Asian itineraries, purpose-built family cabins with structured programming can be the difference between a relaxing holiday and an exhausting one. The themed-cabin-plus-perks model is catching on across the industry, and it's worth comparing what's included before you book — bridge visits, behind-the-scenes tours and take-home gifts are genuinely nice extras that aren't standard on every line.
