Bilt, the rewards program best known for letting renters earn points on rent, runs a fresh batch of promotions on the first of every month — and October's Rent Day is a big one for anyone with hotel stays or train trips on the horizon.
The headline offer is a status-based transfer bonus to Hilton Honors, stacking on top of the standard 1:1 ratio. Depending on your Bilt tier, you'll get 75% (Blue), 100% (Silver), 150% (Gold) or 175% (Platinum) extra, and Platinum members can pay $200 in Bilt Cash to unlock a full 200% bonus. The catch: the bonus only applies to your first 100,000 points transferred on Oct. 1.
There's also a Hilton status match attached. Transfer any amount on the day and you'll receive instant status through Dec. 31, 2026, based on your Bilt tier — Silver for Blue and Silver members, Gold for Gold, and Diamond for Platinum. Complete a short challenge (six nights in 90 days for Gold, 12 for Diamond) and that status extends through March 31, 2028. Since many Hilton cobranded cards already grant status, it's worth checking what you hold before jumping through hoops.
Do the math before moving points, though. The Points Guy values Bilt points at 2.2 cents each against roughly 0.4 cents for Hilton Honors, so even a 200% bonus leaves you behind on paper. It only makes sense if you have a specific high-value Hilton redemption in mind. Amtrak is a different story: with Guest Rewards points worth around 2.6 cents and a standard 2:1 transfer ratio, a 75% bonus or better puts you ahead. Amtrak only joined Bilt as a partner on Sept. 23, and October bonuses run from 25% (Blue) up to 100% (Platinum), with a $400 Bilt Cash buy-up to 125% for Platinum members. Again, the first 100,000 points transferred are what count.
Beyond transfers, the usual Rent Day perks apply. Cardholders earn double points on nonrent purchases from Oct. 1 until 2:59 a.m. EDT on Oct. 2, capped at 1,000 bonus points. Some targeted cardholders get an extra 5 points per dollar at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's through Oct. 30 — no registration needed, just swipe the card. The "Rent Free" game returns with John Legend as celebrity guest; match his answers in the Bilt app for a shot at a month of rent paid (up to $2,500) plus points for runners-up.
If you're in a major US city, Rent Day also brings experiences: comedy shows across 12 cities from $30 to $75 (or points), Neighborhood Dining at 45 restaurants in nine cities on Oct. 1 — including a $350 NYC Wine & Food Festival dinner at Carne Mare — plus free SoulCycle and Barry's classes (875 and 580 spots respectively, non-cancellable once booked). There's even a Locals Collection pop-up outside Bilt's New York headquarters with complimentary hot dogs, and a possible private John Legend show in San Francisco on Oct. 21.
