Frank Gehry's long-awaited Guggenheim Abu Dhabi has started selling tickets ahead of its opening on December 11, 2026 on Saadiyat Island. It will be the largest museum in the Guggenheim network and a major draw for Abu Dhabi's fast-growing cultural district.
Standard entry costs Dhs70 for adults, and anyone under 18 gets in free. Kids aged 12 and under need an adult with them. There's a generous spread of free and discounted options: UAE residents aged 60 and over, senior citizens, people of determination (plus one companion each), and students at UAE universities with valid ID all visit for free — though student tickets have to be picked up from the desk on the day.
Discounted Dhs35 tickets go to UAE-employed educators plus members of the UAE military and Homat Al Watan, while Fazaa and Esaad cardholders pay Dhs50. Bring proof of eligibility; discounted tickets are also collected in person at the museum on the day.
The building itself is a big part of the appeal. Spanning roughly 80,000 square metres on Saadiyat Island, it will hold around 11,600 square metres of gallery space plus about 23,000 square metres of outdoor exhibition areas, with a programme focused on modern and contemporary art. Gehry's design is meant to be part of the experience rather than just a shell around it — expect the sculptural, curving forms he's known for from Bilbao.
