Norwegian Cruise Line automatically enrols every passenger in its Latitudes Rewards programme after a single sailing, and the scheme pays out faster than most cruise loyalty schemes. You earn one point per night on board, with bonus points per night if you book a full-fare suite, a cabin in The Haven, a Concierge-level room, or use one of the members-only Latitudes Rewards Insider Offers. Points never expire, and there's no annual requalification — hit a tier once and you keep it for life.
There are seven tiers, from Bronze (1–19 points) up to Ambassador (700+). Bronze lands after your first cruise and brings a 10% duty-free discount. Silver, reachable in three seven-night sailings, adds 10% off shore excursions, cheaper photos and spa treatments when in port, and a cocktail party invite. Gold throws in priority tender tickets, discounted laundry and priority disembarkation.
Platinum is where things get genuinely useful. You'll need 75–149 points — up to eleven seven-night cruises in a standard cabin, but as few as four if you book suites and Insider Offers. Perks include 15% off internet packages (not trivial, given NCL's Wi-Fi pricing), priority check-in and embarkation, a ship tour, a wine tasting, and two free dinners at specialty restaurants on every sailing of five nights or longer. Norwegian has recently widened which restaurants qualify for those complimentary dinners, which previously were limited to Cagney's and Le Bistro. Platinum members can also book dining 125 days out and shore excursions roughly a year ahead.
Higher tiers keep stacking: Sapphire adds dinner with the officers and priority restaurant and show seating; Diamond (added in 2022) brings a one-time free cabin upgrade and a mixology class. At the top, Ambassador members earn the standout reward in cruise loyalty: a complimentary seven-night balcony cruise for two, in any destination except holiday sailings. You can extend to a longer itinerary or upgrade to a suite by paying the fare difference, and two people who reach Ambassador together can combine credits for a 14-night sailing. You have a year to use it.
A newer wrinkle: since October 2025, status matches across Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' sister brands. Sapphire members get Platinum recognition on Oceania and Regent Seven Seas, while Diamond and Ambassador members receive Diamond status on Oceania and Titanium on Regent. You must request the match 10 days before each cruise, and headline perks like the free cruise and cabin upgrade don't carry over.
Who should care? If you regularly sail Norwegian for a week or more — especially in suites or via Insider Offers — the free specialty dinners, shore excursion discounts and fast tracking to Platinum make loyalty worthwhile. Couples should note that cabin-based perks like laundry and the free dinners extend to both guests based on the higher status. If you only cruise occasionally or favour short sailings, most of the meaningful perks sit at tiers you'll rarely reach, so there's less reason to plan your booking strategy around it.
