Hyatt has published its expected 2026 openings, and it's a big one: more than 110 hotels across nearly every brand it owns. Relative to Hyatt's size — roughly 1,500 properties in 83 countries — that's about 7% unit growth in a single year. Marriott would need to open around 650 hotels to match the same pace. For World of Hyatt members used to thin coverage outside major cities, this is the year the gaps start closing.

The luxury headlines: Park Hyatt Mexico City (Q3) and Park Hyatt Phu Quoc in Vietnam, new Grand Hyatt resorts in Cancun, Grand Cayman and Los Cabos, plus Grand Hyatt The Red Sea on Saudi Arabia's Shura Island. Miraval The Red Sea in Umluj is the wellness brand's first property outside the US. On the lifestyle front, five Andaz hotels arrive (Lisbon, Gold Coast, Taichung, Shanghai, Turks & Caicos), Thompson lands in Rome and Seville, and The Standard opens in Lisbon and Mexico City after Hyatt's 2024 acquisition of Standard International.

The quieter story is the midscale push. Twelve Hyatt Regency properties are on the list, including long-awaited entries in London (Olympia), Rome and the Algarve, plus Hyatt Regency Niagara Falls Fallsview. But most of the growth comes from the budget-friendly end: nine Hyatt Studios extended-stay hotels and a dozen Hyatt Select conversions, every single one of them in the US — places like Casper, Wyoming, Texarkana and Valdosta, Georgia. Since these sit at the bottom of the award chart, they make cheap point redemptions in secondary markets where Hyatt previously had nothing. Hyatt Vivid, the adults-only all-inclusive brand, adds resorts in Akumal and Punta Cana, and six UrCove hotels in China earn and burn points like any other property.

Geographically, 61 openings are in the Americas (44 of them in the US), 33 in Asia Pacific — including 17 in mainland China and Hyatt Centric Sapporo, the brand's first hotel in that underrated Japanese city — and 18 across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Portugal does especially well with four openings. The thin spots are telling: one hotel in all of Africa (Hyatt Regency Lagos Ikeja) and a single property in Japan.

One practical angle for luxury bookers: many of the new flagship properties are expected to join Hyatt Privé, the invitation-only advisor program. That includes both new Park Hyatts, all five Andaz, both Thompsons and Miraval The Red Sea. Privé rates match the standard flexible price but add a confirmed upgrade within 24 hours of booking, daily breakfast for two, a property credit of up to $100, and flexible check-in/out — while still earning full points and elite nights.

Caveat worth knowing: hotel opening dates slip constantly, and the quarterly targets here should be treated as aspirations rather than promises. But if a Rome Hyatt Regency, a Park Hyatt in Mexico City or a points-friendly studio in Kalispell has been on your wishlist, 2026 is the year to watch.
