Malaysian donut chain Big Apple Donuts & Coffee has hit a century. Its 100th store in the country opened on 10 October 2026 at IOI Mall Puchong in Selangor, 19 years after the first outlet debuted at The Curve in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, back in 2007.

To mark the occasion, the brand is running a nationwide promotion that is hard to ignore: two of its pandan-flavoured donuts, Ola Pandan and Dreamy Pandan, cost just RM1 each at every outlet across Malaysia until 31 October 2026. Ola Pandan comes with a fragrant pandan glaze and a vanilla swirl, while Dreamy Pandan pairs a sweet pandan glaze with creamy vanilla topping and a drizzle. The catch, if you can call it one, is that each store stocks only 100 promo pieces a day, so going early improves your odds. There is no per-customer limit, though the deal applies to in-store purchases only and excludes delivery apps.

Managing Director Yasuo Mizoguchi framed the milestone as a thank-you to Malaysian customers, saying pandan was chosen because it is a flavour close to local hearts. The brand clearly has no intention of slowing down: it plans to open another 10 stores across Malaysia in 2027, its 20th anniversary year, with the stated goal of becoming the country's number one donut brand.

For travellers, this is a tidy excuse to build a snack stop into any Malaysia itinerary. Big Apple stores are scattered through shopping malls nationwide, so whether you are mall-hopping in Kuala Lumpur's golden triangle or passing through suburban Selangor, a RM1 pandan donut is an easy, cheap taste of a distinctly local flavour. The chain is halal-certified, which matters for many visitors, and it also runs 10 stores in Cambodia if your trip extends that way. It is not fine dining, but freshly made donuts and coffee at pocket change prices is a pleasant detour between temples, hawker stalls and night markets.

The promo runs while stocks last, so treat it as first-come, first-served rather than guaranteed.
