Mid-Autumn Festival lands on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, and in Singapore that means one thing: a citywide bake-off between hotels, restaurants and fashion houses all trying to outdo each other's mooncakes. The 2026 crop sticks to the classics where it counts — lotus paste, salted egg yolk, flaky Teochew pastry — but the margins are gloriously strange. Think sambal-filled pastries, baijiu-infused truffles, and packaging that doubles as jewellery boxes or a playable board game.
Resorts World Sentosa leans into Peranakan heritage with a Nyonya collection: a sambal five-kernel mooncake for savoury fans, plus gula melaka coconut with black sesame and pandan red bean ($98 nett for a mixed box of four). Its signature Blue Pea Snow Skin Musang King durian mooncake ($128 for eight) returns, dyed sapphire with butterfly pea flower.
Madame Fan at JW Marriott South Beach splits its line-up between baked classics like Single Yolk Lychee Lotus Paste and new mini snow skins — rose tea with tangerine osmanthus, matcha white bean with dark chocolate ganache, mango passion fruit ($98 for eight minis; Mao Shan Wang durian at $108). Its zippered carry case in three colourways is one of the few mooncake boxes you'll actually reuse. Sales run 31 July to 27 September, with early-bird discounts up to 25 per cent.
Prada Caffè at ION Orchard goes full fashion: a green box ($130) with chocolate cookies, red berries and mochi, and red bean matcha flavours, or a $200 wooden box that opens into a Weiqi (Go) board with edible biscuit playing pieces.
Raffles Hotel pairs its collection with a watercolour by local artist Nicole Koo. New snow skins include Whisky & Lapsang Souchong Truffle and a limited Guojiao 1573 Baijiu Black Sesame ($105–107 for eight), alongside the famous Champagne Truffle. A $228 premium baked box — capped at 1,000 sets — throws in handcrafted ceramic plates and gold-plated cutlery.
Mandai Rainforest Resort's first collection stamps each mooncake with a wildlife motif: gibbon for Owa black coffee, pangolin for single-yolk white lotus, macaw for pandan coconut, panda for rose tea lychee. The coffee is sourced via Indonesian conservation group SwaraOwa, and boxes run $85–90, with 20 per cent off pre-orders by 31 August using code EBMAF26.
The St Regis wraps its baked and snow-skin range — including new cranberry balsamic strawberry truffle and the returning Mao Shan Wang durian — in a burgundy leather bag with champagne-gold hardware, from $78 nett. Elsewhere, TWG infuses with houjicha and pu-erh, Paul bakes French tart shells with yuzu black sesame, and even Godiva skips mooncakes for chocolate tartes.
For travellers, this is one of the best times to be in Singapore: most collections run August into late September 2026, booths at hotels and Takashimaya sell walk-in boxes, and early-bird discounts of 20–25 per cent are common. Buy a mixed box, share it, and keep the container.
