Horror fans, circle the first weekend of October. Calgary HorrorCon — Canada's first and largest horror-focused convention, now running for more than a decade — returns on Saturday, Oct. 3 and Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, at the Genesis Centre in northeast Calgary.
The 2026 guest list runs to 13 celebrity names, and it leans heavily on some beloved genre favourites. Cabin Fever fans get a mini-reunion with Cerina Vincent, Jordan Ladd and Gage Golightly, while The Monster Squad is represented by four cast members: Andre Gower, Ashley Bank, Ryan Lambert and Lisa Fuller, with Michael Faustino also on board. Friday the 13th Part VI's Thom Mathews (Jason himself) is attending, alongside Return of the Living Dead's Allan Trautman, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2's Caroline Williams, Halloween Resurrection's Brad Loree, and Junko Bailey of The Grudge and Pachinko fame.
Every guest will sign autographs, pose for selfies and do professional photo ops — though those are priced individually and sold separately from admission, so check the HorrorCon website for the specific actor you're after.
Beyond the celebrity tables, the floor fills with more than 100 horror-themed vendors selling collectibles, artwork, movie props, posters and shelves of VHS and DVDs. There are also indie horror film screenings across both days, Q&A panels with the guests, and an international film festival element. If you're the competitive type, the annual costume contest kicks off Sunday at 5 p.m. with horror-themed prizes on the line.
Tickets are refreshingly affordable: a full weekend pass costs $50, Saturday-only is $40, Sunday-only is $35, and kids under 12 get in free. Doors open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Getting there is simple. The Genesis Centre sits at 7555 Falconridge Blvd. NE, with a large free parking lot and multiple entrances for drivers, or you can take the LRT to Saddletowne station, which is close by.
It's an easy, cheap weekend add-on if you're already in Alberta in early autumn — pair it with a trip to the Rockies before the serious cold sets in, or use it as the excuse for a Calgary city break with a spooky twist.
