New York's Magnolia Bakery is heading to sea. Holland America Line has partnered with the bakery to serve its signature Banana Pudding onboard, timed to the 30th anniversary of RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, the line's private Bahamian island.
This is the first time Magnolia's desserts have been available at sea, and the rollout is tied to Holland America's 2026-27 Caribbean season. Guests will find the Banana Pudding Bar in the Lido Market, the line's casual buffet venue. To get the recipe right, Holland America chefs trained in New York with the Magnolia team, working on both the dessert's creamy texture and its presentation.
Executives from both companies framed the tie-up as a fit between the bakery's brand of nostalgic treats and the cruise line's food-and-beverage programme. Michael Stendebach, Holland America's vice president of food, beverage and rooms division, noted the timing with the Half Moon Cay milestone, while Magnolia's chief brand and baking officer Bobbie Lloyd called it a new way to extend the brand beyond its storefronts.
The pudding is part of a much broader Caribbean push across Holland America's menus for the season. In the main Dining Room, expect regionally anchored dishes such as Rum Barbeque Chicken Wings, Jamaican Braised Oxtail, Tomato Braised Pork Ossobuco and Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Fresh fish is sourced locally where possible — roasted grouper and spiced Barramundi are on the Global Fresh Fish lineup — and the Lido Market adds a Caribbean Seafood Boil.
The line is also leaning into themed food events: a Caribbean Brunch, Caribbean Teatime and a Caribbean-themed dinner held poolside around the Lido. Drinks get their own treatment too. Holland America's Rum Ambassador programme, exclusive to Caribbean-deployed ships, stocks more than 35 rums you won't find on its ships elsewhere.
For travellers, this is a small but telling example of how mainstream cruise lines are using destination-specific dining and brand partnerships to differentiate otherwise similar Caribbean itineraries. If you're sailing Holland America in the Caribbean from late 2026 through 2027, the dessert bar, the regional menus and the rum programme come standard — no extra booking needed. Fans of the bakery get a taste of New York with their beach day, and anyone eyeing a Caribbean cruise in that window now has one more data point when comparing lines. It won't decide your booking on its own, but combined with the Half Moon Cay anniversary celebrations, it signals the line is putting real effort into its Caribbean product this season.
