The Maldives has a reputation as a couples-only destination, but two Sun Siyam resorts are pushing hard against that image with waterparks, kids' clubs and multi-bedroom villas built for whole clans.
The bigger of the pair is Siyam World, a 40-minute seaplane hop from Male in Noonu Atoll. The headline draw is the largest floating waterpark in the Maldives — obstacle courses, trampolines and rafts — plus free non-motorised watersports such as kayaking, windsurfing and paddleboarding. Water villas come with private sundecks, some with pools. Two complimentary excursions are included, with options like sunset cruises and visits to local fishing villages. The value hook here is strong: children under 15 stay and eat free (up to two kids sharing with two adults), which arguably makes it the best-value family option in the Sun Siyam portfolio.

Who's this for? Families who assumed the Maldives was out of reach once kids entered the picture. Between the free child stays at Olhuveli, the included excursions and the sheer amount of free entertainment at Siyam World, the per-person maths looks a lot friendlier than the postcard price tag suggests. Grandparents-in-tow trips work well too, given the multi-room villa options.
