Two Maldivian resorts have again been singled out at the World Travel Awards, and the reasons why are worth knowing if you're weighing up a splurge in the atolls.

OZEN RESERVE BOLIFUSHI, on its own private island near Malé, was named 'Maldives' Leading Luxury Hotel Villa' for the fourth year running. The award essentially points at the resort's Royal RESERVE — a 3,000-square-metre villa with its own beach, large pool, private spa treatment room with dedicated therapists, and a 24-hour butler plus personal chef. Direct lagoon access and Indian Ocean views come as standard.

Meanwhile, OZEN LIFE MAADHOO in South Malé Atoll picked up 'Indian Ocean's Leading Villa Resort' for the second time, after winning the same category in 2024. Its selling point is the INDULGENCE Plan, an all-inclusive setup that covers unlimited dining across seven restaurants, premium drinks, excursions and spa treatments in one price. The resort is also home to M6m, an underwater restaurant and the first of its kind in the atoll.

There's broader form here beyond the awards night. Both resorts landed in the top ten percent of Tripadvisor's 2025 Travellers' Choice rankings, with MAADHOO making the 'Best of the Best' tier — the top one percent globally. The collection also shared gold for 'Best All-Inclusive Hotel for Families' at the inaugural Junior Travel Awards 2026, BOLIFUSHI's ELE|NA spa was shortlisted for Maldives' Best Wellness Retreat at the World Spa Awards 2025, and MAADHOO holds three straight years of Green Globe certification for sustainability.

What does this mean for travellers? Mainly that these two are among the safest bets in the Maldives if ultra-luxury is the goal. BOLIFUSHI suits couples and privacy-seekers chasing the villa-and-butler experience; MAADHOO's fully loaded dining and family recognition make it a better fit for groups who don't want to track every cocktail and excursion on a bill. The brand is also expanding beyond the Maldives, with planned properties in Kolkata, Jaipur and Goa under names like OZEN MANSION and OZEN PRIVADO — worth watching if India appeals more than an island.

For anyone comparing Maldives resorts, awards aren't everything, but four consecutive wins in the same category does suggest consistency rather than a lucky year.
