Individual hosts also set their own deals, from mid-week specials to off-season rates of up to 30%, so it pays to scroll past the first page of listings.
Some properties carry targeted discounts for specific groups. Hosts can offer reductions to military personnel, teachers, first responders and similar groups — one seven-bedroom Smoky Mountains home, for example, gives 10% off to military, educators, first responders and church groups. Separately, anyone who can verify their status through ID.me — including nurses, teachers, government employees and students — can earn up to 5% cashback on Vrbo purchases, as long as eligibility is confirmed before booking.
Then there's the OneKey rewards programme, shared with Expedia and Hotels.com. A free account unlocks up to 10% off a first booking, then earns 2% back in OneKeyCash on eligible stays, activities and car rentals (0.2% on flights). Frequent bookers might consider the OneKey Mastercard: current welcome offers give $250 back on $1,000 spent in three months, or $350 on $3,000 spent with the OneKey+ card, which carries a $99 annual fee. Cardholders earn 3% on Vrbo bookings, with loyalty tiers pushing that to 5%, plus perks like TSA PreCheck credits, travel insurance and phone protection.
One underrated trick: new listings. Properties added within the last 90 days often discount heavily to attract their first guests — the first three bookers can get up to 25% off. Current examples span London, Punta Cana, Miami, Las Vegas and Barcelona, where a Sarrià-Sant Gervasi apartment is $276 off a weekly stay.
