Monthly statement credits are the quiet workhorses of premium travel cards — and they reset every month whether you use them or not. The Points Guy has published its October checklist of perks across American Express, Barclays and Chase cards, and the takeaway is simple: these credits are use-it-or-lose-it, they don't roll over, and they're capped at "up to" amounts, so underspending just means free money left on the table.

Start with the American Express Platinum, which carries a hefty $895 annual fee but stacks several monthly offsets: up to $25 toward digital entertainment (think Disney+, Hulu, Peacock, The New York Times and YouTube Premium), $15 in Uber Cash that jumps to $20 in December, $12.95 toward a Walmart+ membership and $9.99 covering an Uber One subscription. The Amex Gold, with a $325 fee, offers $10 in Uber Cash, $10 at dining spots like Grubhub, The Cheesecake Factory and Buffalo Wild Wings, and $7 at Dunkin' — and if you hold both cards, the Uber Cash stacks in a single account. Business cardholders aren't left out: the Business Platinum gives $10 off wireless bills, while Business Gold offers $20 at Grubhub, office supply stores and UPS, plus its own Walmart+ credit.

Delta cobranded cards carry a tiered structure. Reserve holders get $20 monthly on Resy restaurant bookings plus $10 for ride-hailing; Platinum cards trim Resy to $10; Gold cards keep the $10 ride-hailing credit (covering Uber, Lyft, Curb and Alto) worth up to $120 a year. The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant might be the easiest of all — a $25 monthly dining credit usable at restaurants worldwide, with no enrollment required; just pay and the credit lands within days.

Over at Chase, the Sapphire Reserve pairs its complimentary DoorDash DashPass with up to $35 in monthly DoorDash credits ($15 on any order plus two $10 promos for groceries and convenience items), while the business version offers $25 in similar value. Both add $10 monthly Lyft credits through September 2027. The Sapphire Preferred gets DashPass and a $10 monthly non-restaurant DoorDash credit. United cards round things out: the United Club card offers $20 in Instacart credits plus a free Instacart+ membership and $12 in ride-hailing credits ($18 in December), and the United Quest gives $15 for Instacart and $8 for rides, rising in December. Barclays' Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier covers $10 a month on meal delivery apps.

Why should a traveller care? Because these credits effectively subsidise the airport-adjacent costs of a trip — rides to the terminal, meals on layovers, groceries at your rental, even your streaming subscriptions on the road. A few minutes checking that you're enrolled, adding cards to the right apps (Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart) and making one targeted purchase can recoup $50 or more each month. Most benefits require one-time activation, so if you've never enrolled, October is a good month to start. Full details and card reviews are at the original source.
