Hilton and American Express have rolled out limited-time welcome offers across all four of their co-branded credit cards, and three of the four now come with both a chunky points bonus and a free night award. Applications are open through January 13, 2027, which gives people plenty of runway — but the offers are flagged as among the best ever seen on these cards.
The standout detail is the free night award itself. It can be redeemed at Hilton properties priced up to 250,000 points per night, which covers top-tier Waldorf Astoria and Conrad hotels and even Small Luxury Hotels of the World properties bookable through Hilton. That makes it arguably the most valuable hotel card free-night certificate available, valid for 12 months from issue.
Here's how the four cards stack up. The no-annual-fee Hilton Honors Amex gives 70,000 points plus a free night after $2,000 of spend in six months, plus Hilton Silver status (Gold with $20,000 of annual spend). The Surpass card, at $150 a year, bumps that to 130,000 points plus a free night for $3,000 of spend, throws in automatic Gold status, $200 of annual Hilton credits, and an extra free night for $15,000 of yearly spend. The $195 Business card offers 150,000 points plus a free night for $8,000 of spend, with $240 of annual Hilton property credits. And the premium $550 Aspire card pays 200,000 points for $6,000 of spend — no free night in the welcome offer, but the card includes one every year from day one, on top of Diamond status, $400 in resort credits, a $200 airline credit and a CLEAR+ credit.
A few practical notes on eligibility. Each card is a separate product, so you can earn the welcome bonus on all four (subject to Amex's once-per-lifetime rule per card). Amex cards are known for being relatively easy approvals with good credit, and there's a five-card cap on Amex credit cards at any one time. Handy for anyone juggling rewards strategies: the Business card doesn't count toward Chase's 5/24 rule.
Which one to pick? Casual Hilton guests can't go wrong with the free card, though the Surpass is widely considered worth its fee for the bigger bonus and stronger perks. Frequent resort guests — think a couple of resort stays a year — get real value from the Aspire. Small business owners have an obvious match in the Business card. If you've held one of these before, apply for a different card in the family to stay eligible for a new bonus.
Why should a holidaymaker care? Points valued at roughly half a cent each mean the Surpass welcome bonus alone is worth several hundred dollars in free accommodation, before you count a certificate that could buy a night at a 250,000-point luxury property. For anyone with Hilton stays already on the calendar, these offers are about as good as this card family gets.
